Leakage In Your Property

We know finding a leak can be worrying. If a leak is inside the property it is the responsibility of the property owner or occupier to arrange repairs. The good news is that help is available, and we'll guide you to the right support.

Who is responsible for fixing leak inside a property?

Leaks that happen inside a home, business, or other property are usually the responsibility of the:

  • Homeowner
  • Tenant (depending on tenancy agreements)
  • Landlord
  • Business owner
  • Property manager

As your water company, we look after leaks on our water network, but leaks inside a property are not part of the network that we maintain.

What should you do next?

To repair the leak and prevent further damage, we recommend contacting a qualified plumber as soon as possible.

A Leak allowance

If you have a water meter installed, and the leak has caused your water bill to be higher than usual, you may be able to apply for a leak allowance once the repair has been completed.

A leak allowance may help reduce some of the extra charges caused by the leak.
