Inflow and Infiltration Monitoring

As part of our Inflow and Infiltration Monitoring (IIM) project, we are installing 10,000 sewer level monitors in chambers across Wales. These monitors help us understand how sewer levels change throughout the year, particularly during heavy rainfall or high groundwater conditions.

By collecting this data, we can identify where excess water is entering the network, which can contribute to localised flooding and environmental pollution.

Understanding these issues is a vital first step in reducing risks. The insights gained will help us plan and prioritise future improvement works, targeting the areas most in need. This will support a more resilient network, helping to protect communities and reduce the likelihood of flooding and pollution incidents.
